It’s another installment of what will hopefully be many monthly letters written to my son. It’s a part of an attempt to capture these glimpses into the everyday and the not so ordinary moments that pass by so quickly as children grow. This is an ongoing series.
Dear sweet, happy boy,
I’m a few days late in getting this up, but I thought it was better late than never! This month saw the end of summer and the dive back into routine for you. It has also meant the end of corn-on-the-cob season. I haven’t seen you love anything as hard as you love corn-on-the-cob. You try so hard to say it, but that “c” of corn is tricky.

You’re certainly showing your independence and your cleverness. You keep surprising us at just about every turn with how much you know and understand. A lot of the time it seems that we’re just catching up to you and when we finally do put two and two together you’re all, “that’s what I’ve been saying this whole time!”
Thank you, little guy. For so much laughter, enormous, grunt-filled hugs, sloppy smooches, laps around the living room, and always “moooooohr DAT!” We are so lucky to have you.
Love always and always,
Mama

I will watch the video later as Pat’s still asleep and I’m being tiptoe quiet. The world would be a better place if we said “mohhhrrr DAT” and listened to our hearts on it. I will think of August with every ear of corn I eat now. Lovely post, Alison. Full of light and goodness.
Oh, I agree so much. Scarcity and abundance and what it means to operate from within each… So much to unpack there!
