It’s another installment of what will hopefully be many monthly letters written to my son. It’s a part of a memory-keeping attempt to capture these glimpses into the everyday and the not so ordinary moments that pass by so quickly as children grow. This is an ongoing series.
Dear almost two-year-old boy,
When you’re on, you are so magnificently on. You are funny, engaged and engaging, you come scampering away from things you are doing just to fling on to me with a big old hug. You are starting to joke around – actual jokes – and it’s awesome. At the same time, man is your “two” starting to show. I totally get that it’s you learning how to assert independence, and it makes complete sense, but it can be awfully trying. We’re all learning so so much.
We’ve settled pretty well into our new house, and we have all been loving having more space. Our new yard has been fantastic – all sorts of new plants and trees to explore, and so much space to run all around. You love to show off your new room to anyone who will look at it – your new robots and your bird clock, especially.
By the next letter, you’re going to actually be two. We’ll celebrate your birthday with many trips down slides, maybe some time at the zoo, some of your favorites. Having you in our family is such an amazing and rejuvenating experience. Our lives are seen with such wonder because of you.
Love always and always,
Mama

Wow, 2!!! When did that happen? I love the idea of these letters and wish I’d done it. Mine at 11 and 16 now. Gorgeous photos as always and your little man is gorgeous.
Right?! Thanks so much <3
