So, true confession, before we knew that these guys were family to us, they were like family – long story short, Mark, the dad, and I are third cousins and we didn’t find out till we’d known each other for quite a while. I was confirmed with Tessie, the mom, and went to middle school with both Mark and Tessie. My husband, Pat, went to high school with the two of them. Mark was the best man at our wedding and Pat was the best man at theirs. We have all managed to stay friends as we settled down, bought houses, and got married. The addition of their little gal, Georgia, to their family is a good part of why we decided to give kids a try – we wanted any children we had to grow up with theirs.

Georgia is two and a half and does occasionally stop moving – she just had absolutely no desire to on this gorgeous last-of-summer-feeling kind of evening. And, you know? I totally love it. She’s a bombastically happy kid, curious, wicked smart and with the best personality and temperament. It’s a thrill to not only to be the photographer for this sweet family this fall, but also an honor to be a part of their lives.
