I know this isn’t the one they’re likely to choose to go on their wall. It’s lovely and all, but there are more lovey, family-focused photos in their gallery. This one catches me, though. From the moment I walked into their (totally gorgeous and perfect) backyard, big brother was needing to show me every possible treasure – worms, the baby wren hopping around, this rock, the next rock, the other rock, and of course the one that makes its way into his sister’s newborn photos. I love mom intently looking at the treasures. I love that little sister is sacked out, completely oblivious to what’s going on around her. I love that older child looking for ways to grab the attention back (I was totally that kid, and my oldest was totally that kid – it happens in every family, I swear). But I especially love dad – on to the whole goings-on, catching my eye with a smile. Their family is all in, smooshed together on that side of the frame and I can feel their love, their attention to each other, their care for this new little one. I’m totally here for it.
