Taking a cue from the incredible British photographer, Kevin Mullins, I want to start doing some quick little posts with just a single photo, and a little bit about why I that particular photo sticks with me.
The delicate placement of her hand across her front, her engagement ring sliding up on her finger, the glimmer of her mom’s dress in the background contrasting with the gentle silk of her dress, the angled arm framing mom’s hands as she helps to fasten her bridal gown. Visually, it’s these quiet, gentle, delicate and intimate details that completely draw me into this photo. Once I’m in there, though, I start remembering the excited murmur of activity in the room, the laughter, and the joy. There were also small whispers of reassurance, the calming touch of a mother’s hands as she helps her daughter prepare for this big and beautiful moment. It’s a photo full of grace, of nerves, of support and of love.
