Letters to our child | January 2016

It’s another installment of what will hopefully be many monthly letters written to my son. It’s a part of a memory-keeping attempt to capture these glimpses into the everyday and the not so ordinary moments that pass by so quickly as children grow. This is an ongoing series.

Dear sweet boy,

In the last month we’ve had Christmas, traveled to the hills of South Carolina, rung in a new year, and finally gotten to go play in some snow (it’s been a kind of weird winter around here…). Christmas got you used to there being sweets and treats coming at you from every outstretched hand. There was also a stretch of three or four weeks where there were more and more presents. Back to regular life has been a tiny bit of a let-down. Once again I was apprehensive about traveling with you – a 2.5 hour flight followed by the rigmarole of airports and rental cars and then a 2.5 hour drive to our destination – but you handled it amazingly.

I’m excited about the adventures to come for us in 2016. Even the small things with you are so much more exciting as you see them from such a place of wonder and amazement.

Love always and always,
Mama
