One of my greatest joys in photography is disappearing into the background and capturing the natural, commonplace and completely gorgeous interactions and moments going on. It’s something that happens throughout a good chunk of the not-so-commonplace wedding day, but every now and then I get to do this for folks in some of their very favorite spaces during what would otherwise be a very normal day. It’s a time and space to tell a little story of the love and joy that exists in the small gestures between people, in the little things placed with care in a room, in the way folks interact with the space and those in it with beautiful intention.
I got to spend a couple of days with my good friends on their family farm in Nebraska this past fall. I was lucky to be able to really document their love for each other and where they’ve landed in the world. Their love for their little spot in the middle of huge swaths of Nebraska farm land is deeply rooted in how they are with each other. It’s really so much magic.
I’m calling these In This Place sessions, because I do have this strong belief (along with some gorgeous photographic evidence) that we are shaped in so many ways by the places we love the most. There’s absolutely no reason not to document the moments when you feel like your best and most true selves in these places. I’d love to capture your cabin, to photograph you on your favorite trail, to document you in your perfect campsite, your beautiful home. I can’t wait to hear from you!
