It was a beautiful fall evening in the flats of the Mississippi River and I got to make a new friend. B’s mom and I are book club friends, and I’d met B when he was much smaller, but hadn’t had the pleasure of spending much time with him now that he’s a bigger kid. B, his folks and I had a ball practicing skipping rocks, swinging down paths, tossing a Spiderman ball around, and taking a few photos. It’s always a sign of success for me when I feel like I’ve managed to make a new friend with a little one during a photo session – it’s actually one of my goals. And I know that getting the shots with the hair just so and the excellent clothes and all is wonderful (I love those too!), but the shots of him with his Twins baseball cap just make my heart sing. B loves that cap – and I mean LOVES it. To miss it entirely would have missed the mark for me. Plus, little boys in baseball caps are just about the cutest thing ever. I’ve got a weakness, for sure. Thanks for coming out to play with me this fall, lovely friends!
