Why I Love This Photo | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer

Taking a cue from the incredible British photographer, Kevin Mullins, I want to start doing some quick little posts with just a single photo, and a little bit about why I that particular photo sticks with me.

I’ll be the first to admit it – I’m a sucker for bridal prep photos, and this is one of my absolute favorites. Both hair stylist and makeup artist are hard at work getting her hair teased just perfectly, the eye shadow blended flawlessly, concentration evident on both their faces. The bride, meanwhile, sits completely still. Is her lack of motion from wanting to let the other ladies do their jobs well, is it from anticipation and nerves? Knowing her, and having been there, I’ll tell you – yes. Yes, to both, and I’ll also let you know, that seconds after this more serious, anticipatory photo was taken, all three were completely busting out laughing over rogue false eyelashes peeking out of the bride’s shirt pocket. These prep moments are so charged with emotion and energy, with waiting and excitement that you can read all sorts of these things all over everyone’s faces. It’s one of the reasons I absolutely love this photo.
