Letters to our child | November 2016

It’s another installment of what will hopefully be many monthly letters written to my son. It’s a part of a memory-keeping attempt to capture these glimpses into the everyday and the not so ordinary moments that pass by so quickly as children grow. This is an ongoing series.

My little/big guy,

You have strong opinions on just how we should be playing trains. Mostly, you play trains and instruct a few engine moves by your dad or me. You’ve started using your imagination more and more – making up scenarios for your guys, the trains, how you play, all sorts of things. You make jokes, sing songs, and it is so fascinating and fantastic to see these new sides of you develop. The other day we were playing downstairs and the baby got the hiccups. I grabbed your hand and put it on my belly and you got to feel your new brother or sister moving. It may not have meant a whole lot to you (you moved back to your playing pretty quickly), but it meant an awful lot to me. Another couple of months and our whole reality is going to completely flip. I’m really savoring all of our little moments together – trying to soak up all the just mama and Gus times. The new kid is going to be great, but I know I’m really going to miss this.

So, so much,
Mama
